Update!!!
Hello Everyone!!! First off, I would like to ask everyone to keep a very close friend of mine in their hearts and prayers as he lost a loved one this past week. Thank you. Sorry I haven’t given the site an update in quite some time. I will put forth a better effort to keep it rolling. Since I have been back there has been tons of snow and the weather has been really cold. (Although it doesn’t seem to be as cold as what my friends in Illinois or dealing with.) The team is now 10-7 overall, 2-2 since the break. We lost our first two back and have won our last two and are currently in fourth place. The top three teams move on to the playoffs and in order to get there we have to have a little help since we are four games out of third with only nine to go. Our organization is pleased with our position at the moment though so not too much pressure involved down the stretch. We have a busy couple of weeks coming up, which is fine with me, we play Saturday and Sunday this weekend and then again on Thursday against Bojang’s team. They are in third and it is a huge rivalry around here, probably not quite as intense as the War on 74 though so I think I can handle it. Sorry for being such a horrible webmaster. I will be making updates more often from here on out. I hope everyone is doing well, stay warm if you are in the midwest and dry if you are down south.

Update!!
We play our last game before the break on Sunday in Helsinki against Rekolan Urheilijat. This is our second time to play them. They were our first game of the season…this game starts the second round of play for us. RU is currently in last place but everyone that has played them at home has been in really tough games. We had a good week of practice and everyone is focused on finishing strong before the break. A win would put us in a tie for fourth place so it is an important game for our team. Merry Christmas to everyone!!!
I practiced for the first time yesterday since our game Sunday. Swelling in my ankle is finally going down some. We play BC Jyvaskyla Sunday. They have a real solid team. They are one game ahead of us at 7-4 so it would be a big win. Other than that not too much. The sun comes up about 10:30 and goes down around 3:30…not too much daylight around here these days. Good for sleeping though, which I don’t mind.
Once a week we go and work with the 5-7 year olds in the community at their practice. They are a lot of fun. Here are some pics from last week.
Update
Last week we lost to Espoo by 2 points on a tip in at the buzzer. It was a tough way to lose. I came down on someone’s foot and sprained my ankle. I was only able to play 6 minutes. I missed a couple of days of practice to rest and received some treatment during the week. I was able to play Saturday against BC Nokia. The team played great and we were able to come away with a win 97-88. After the game we road the bus with Nokia to Tampere where we had a birthday party for Latrice and Trent. It was a nice time. I enjoyed getting out and about. Other than that just relaxing until Tuesday. Trying to rest my ankle it is still swollen quite a bit. 14 days til I’m back in the states, can’t wait to see everyone.
TG – 35 min. 2FG- 5/10 3FG – 6/12 FT – 3/5 TT – 31 pts 5 ast
Enjoying the day off today. I had to force myself out of bed. I promised myself I wouldn’t do anything today and so far I haven’t and doesn’t look like I will be. LOL. We play again next Sunday, so I am looking forward to a good week of practice so that we can go into the Christmas break on a good win streak. The weather has warmed up this week and the snow has melted. I guess between Trent, Derrick, and I there is a little too much of the south up here and we have been able to alter the weather patterns. But I doubt it, they said we have been lucky and not to worry, the arctic winter is on its way. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Eat an extra bite or two for me.
And I can’t wait to see the Reids!!!
1-1 Over the Weekend
We played two games this weekend. Saturday was horrible. We came out flat and when you do that on the road a lot of times things end up going the wrong way. We played Kauhajoen Karhu (Bojang’s Team). Boo played really well, he had 18pts 16rebs. We didn’t play well at all. They jumped out to a big lead early and didn’t turn back. Final score 112-70…I know…it hurt to type it…UGLY!!!
Sunday was a totally different story against Pantterit. We played a much better game. It was a big win for us in order to stay on pace with the upper half of the league. We improved on some things that we didn’t do on Saturday and learned from some of our mistakes. We are still experiencing some inconsistency in our play but I feel that we are continuing to get better week after week. Final score 80-71.
Saturday – TG – 27 min. 2FG – 4/7 57.1% 3FG – 2/7 28.6% TT – 14pts 6rebs.
Sunday – TG – 40min. 2FG – 5/8 62.5% 3FG – 7/12 58.3% FT – 5/6 83.3% TT – 36pts 4rebs
Oh yeah…for all you Bojang fans…he says hello…and I need to give him some more props because he played really well on Sunday…26pts 18rebs….He still plays hard as hell…Crashes the glass every play…and plays really good defense….and then talks crazy after the game…Ha Ha
